Right to be Heard Training Overview
(CP 11-402 and 403)
This training will cover when a crime victim is allowed to speak at the sentencing hearing, or to submit a victim impact statement regarding the impact of the offense on the victim and the victim’s family. It establishes an acknowledgement by the criminal justice system of the personal nature of the crime and of the personal harm suffered. More specifically: It calls for communication with the prosecutor, Court, and other authorities.
